Carolyn Killen wins 2005 Entrepreneur Award with the News Magazine
Carolyn Killen has developed a new patented product designed to get rid of chest wrinkles, with results apparent overnight.

“Most women have wrinkles above the breasts, caused by sleeping on their sides. When they are 38 years-old or so, the wrinkles can become more noticeable,” Killen said.

The Heart series, currently sold exclusively on the Internet in several sizes is offered by Killen’s company, Chest-A-Peel, LLC. It is a medical-grade adhesive pillow paid that is worn on the chest while resting or sleeping.

The pillow pad, if washed after use, can be worn continuously for 30 days and retails for $49.95. The product was developed to appeal to women who want more youthful looking skin, especially when wearing low-cut tops or open blouses.

Women who sleep on their side begin to wake with deep creases and wrinkles on their chest. The wrinkles often disappear throughout the day, but after time wrinkles may slowly become deeper and more obvious, Killen said.

The pillow pad is made of polyfoam covered with nylon. Killen said that with continued use, most wrinkles may virtually disappear or never return at all. She said women can actually see how the wrinkles were absorbed on the tops of the pillow pads after a night’s use. She began working on the concept in 1995 along with her business partner the successful inventor Dr. Paul Fenelon. They secured a patent in 1998, but were in no rush to market the pillow pad until they had worked out all the details.

“I looked for the past five years for the right adhesive that would not only be safe and comfortable but adhere well,” Killen said.

When she discovered the strapless encapsulated silicone bra, NuBra, manufactured by Bragel Inc. that featured a superior adhesive, she contacted that company’s head, David Chen. She and Chen, whose company is in California, worked out a business arrangement where in she will use the adhesive and he will market his own version of Killen’s product called “The Tilis.”

The patented adhesive has been tested successfully on many types of skin and on women ages 22 to 62 years old. Killen said that older skin may not have the same results as younger skin or effects may not be as dramatic after use, but signs of improvement would occur.

Killen said that in the future several sizes will be available and another line, the Wulf series, is under development to be sold through medical suppliers, plastic surgeons and other licensed professional outlets. Just as the smaller Heart series gets its name from the pillow pad shape, the Wulf pads will resemble the shape of a wolf’s head. The Heart pad should be placed at the base of the neck to the opening of the brest. The Wulf pads will cover an area from arm pit to arm pit. Killen, who is well-known in the Nashville area and is the wife of music industry executive Buddy Killen, is excited about other prospects for enhancing her product line.

“We at Chest-A-Peel are committed to creating a new generation of this product line,” Killen said. “We are applying additives, such as wrinkle-fighter Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to the adhesive which gives even more beneficial properties.”
